Alloy steel pipes are primarily used in high-pressure, high-temperature pipelines and equipment in
power plants, nuclear power plants, high-pressure boilers, high-temperature superheaters, and reheaters.
They are made from high-quality carbon steel, alloy structural steel, and stainless heat-resistant steel,
produced through hot rolling (extrusion, expansion) or cold rolling (drawing).
Alloy pipes have a hollow cross-section and are widely used as pipelines for transporting fluids such as oil,
natural gas, coal gas, water, and certain solid materials. Compared to solid steel materials like round steel,
alloy steel pipes are lighter in weight while maintaining the same bending and torsional strength.
They are an economical cross-section steel material,
widely used in manufacturing structural components and mechanical parts, such as oil drill pipes,
automobile drive shafts, bicycle frames, and steel scaffolding used in construction.
Using alloy steel pipes to manufacture ring-shaped parts can improve material utilization,
simplify manufacturing processes, and save materials and processing time;
examples include rolling bearing rings and jack sleeves,
which are now widely manufactured using steel pipes.
Alloy steel pipes are also indispensable materials for various conventional weapons;
gun barrels and cannon barrels are all made from steel pipes.
Alloy steel pipes can be classified into round pipes and shaped pipes according to their cross-sectional shape.
Since a circle has a larger area for a given perimeter, round pipes can transport more fluid. Furthermore,
a circular cross-section experiences more uniform stress when subjected to internal or external radial pressure;
therefore, the vast majority of steel pipes are round.
